What We Never Stored
We never stored any of the following — so there's nothing to delete for these:
✓ Raw phone number — Only a one-way SHA-256 hash was ever stored, not your actual number.
✓ Your name — Buddy never asked for or stored your name.
✓ Email address — No email was ever collected.
✓ Location data — Buddy does not access your location.
✓ Contacts, photos, or camera data — Buddy is WhatsApp-only; no device permissions requested.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does deletion actually take?
Using the WhatsApp method ("DELETE MY DATA"), deletion is processed within seconds and you'll get a confirmation message. Email requests are processed within 30 days.
Will I lose my streak history permanently?
Yes. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Your streak counter, habit logs, and all history will be erased. Consider texting "My Data" first if you want a summary before deleting.
Can I re-register after deleting my data?
Yes. Just text "Hi" to Buddy again from the same or a different WhatsApp number and you'll start fresh, as if you're a new user.
Will I receive a confirmation?
Yes. If you delete via WhatsApp, Buddy will reply with a confirmation message. For email requests, we'll reply to your email confirming the deletion.
Does deletion stop all WhatsApp messages from Buddy?
Yes. Once your account is deleted, Buddy will no longer send you any messages, including nudges, summaries, or replies.
What about data stored by WhatsApp / Meta?
Buddy can only delete data stored in our systems. Message history in the WhatsApp app itself is controlled by Meta. Please refer to Meta's Privacy Policy for information on managing WhatsApp data.
Is this required for Meta / Facebook App Review compliance?
Yes. This page fulfills Meta's requirement that apps using the WhatsApp Business Cloud API provide a clear data deletion mechanism. By texting "DELETE MY DATA" to Buddy or submitting an email request, your data is fully removed from our systems.
